Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions has arrived for iPhone/iPod touch!
Released as the Final Fantasy series' first tactical RPG in 1997, Final Fantasy Tactics on Playstation went on to sell over 2.4 million copies worldwide. The game grew in popularity upon its re-release in 2007 as Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions for the PSP with added features such as new movies, scenarios and Jobs.
Now, in 2011 the game has finally arrived for the iPhone/iPod touch! You can enjoy the game whose story gave life to the world of Ivalice, and whose high strategy battles bring tactical games to a whole new level.
■Game features
- Intuitive Touch Screen Controls
The complex tactical game can be effortlessly and intuitively controlled by simply tapping units and menus. Gone is the old method of switching fixed map views - you can now rotate, move and change the size of maps as you please by sliding and pinching.
- Improved Loading Times
Loading times have been improved to get you into the action quicker than ever. What's more, you can even skip certain cut scenes.

Clumsy port of a great game
The game itself is golden classics with a ton of new content added to the original 1998 title.
The release is an example of how developers must not behave supporting the app. Various bugs are not being addressed in years:
- no official support for newer iOS versions since 9;
- separate apps for iPhone and iPad;
- no support for new devices’ screen ratios;
- poor sound design resulting in flat and chipped sound effects compared to the original game;
- graphics could be further improved considering today’s mobile performance;
The game interface is adapted to touch control, but still could be improved in buttons layout design and more gestures support.
However, this iOS port is definitely worth playing both for those who are new to FF franchise and those seeking original PSOne nostalgia. You will have hundreds hours of immersive gameplay, including really long and story rich main course and countless side quests, which are even more important in terms of revealing full potential of the game. It also has complex and unique game mechanics with its beauty unveiling as the player diggs deeper in the gameplay. The game require a lot of online reading in order to unlock every hidden character or story or item which is without doubt adds value.
All in all, it is a brilliant game delivering an insane amount of content and months of gameplay on your iOS device. But it is not perfect since it is poorly ported and even less supported. FFT WotL project should be timeless classics, but it is more likely going to be abandoned by Square team since there is nothing new to add to this 20 year old console strategy.
PS. It’s got v.2.0.0 update in September 2017, but there’s no details about what’s new and what the new version is about.

Увлекательно, затягивающе и просто очень интересно)) Прохожу эту игру уже не первый раз, но все равно цепляет. Сначала может показаться слишком сложно для новичка, но советую разобраться во всем... и тогда за уши вас не оттянешь. Обожаю «квадрат»))
Бессмертная классика.
Игра супер как и раньше! Жаль мультиплеер не пережил порта, и теперь экипировку Генджи украсть у Вормафа нельзя.. Впервые вкачал Клауда на 99 лвл мастер всех профессий и т.д. оказался самым бесполезным в пати со своими лимитами.. Вообще советую всем, через пару лет пройду еще разок! А пока привет 9 часть!
