SSH Tunnel - with SOCKS5 proxy 4+

Can't reopen a connection without restarting my iPad

Whenever a connection closes abruptly, I can't reopen it, because the local port remains busy. On a mac/linux machine the typical workaround is to find the dead connection using `ps aux | grep ssh` and kill the hanging ssh process, but here I have to restart the iPad or wait for the system to kill the process.

Update:

I've raised the score to 4 stars, because this seems to be the only app capable of maintaining an SSH tunnel in the background (almost?) indefinitely, as long as the internet connection is stable. I would've given it 5 starts if it were not for the aforementioned issue.

Thank you for the message, it’s a known issue, I’m working on it.

If you use this app for Dynamic port forwarding, as a workaround, you can specify ”0” in a Port field.

Не работает в фоне

Это «замечательное» приложение не умеет работать в фоне, что сводит его полезность к 0. Ах да, разработчик об этом «забыл» предупредить.

Hello,

It’s just not possible to maintain a background activity for such kind of apps.

But you have the options:

- Use the app with Split View on iPad
- Use an in-app browser (click globe button on the active connection page) to keep the app running in the foreground on iPhone (available since 2.0.1)
- You can use multiple iOS devices, setup Port Forwarding proxy on one and use it on another
