Somewhere in the medieval England of our fantasies, replete with dragons, armies and majestic waterfalls, there’s a myth that resonates like truth: power is either something you possess, or something you endure.

That world might look like historic fantasy, but the thirst for power certainly isn’t. So if you wake up today in the mood to impose your will over others, delving into the world of King of Avalon will certainly fulfill that desire.

Already a must-have in the world of MMO (massively multiplayer online) strategy games, here you play a City Lord caught in the turbulence that’s erupted after the tragic death of King Arthur. With every city fighting for itself, your mission is to make yours grow and strengthen so it can prevail over others. And, of course, find Excalibur: the sword that will make you king.

No one said this would be a straightforward journey though. As a potential king, you start by building your city and training your army. Seeing your city blossom will make you feel like you’re Arthur’s rightful successor; but keep in mind a war is raging around you, and you’ll need to create alliances for backup when deciding to expand and attack other cities.

Of course, every City Lord is free to decide how to construct their city, and there are endless ways to do it. But if we may, consider building an Embassy to boost your alliances. With a community of millions of gamers around the world, chances are high you’ll be hit by an unexpected, devastating attack at any moment. Even when you’re offline!

Adding a university inside the city walls is a sharp move, as the research carried out there will improve all kinds of assets in your game. Push your strategy to ambitious heights and decide where to focus: development, the economy, combat, defence. A little suggestion though; by focusing on the economy, you can improve your ability to gather resources, from food to wood to iron.

With hundreds of options for you to run a successful campaign, it’s crucial to balance the development of your city within its walls (and your dragon’s growth) with the alliances you need to foster.

The scope of King of Avalon might feel a bit overwhelming at times. And it can be! With timers here and there putting temporary pauses on building upgrades and project progression, you’ll find yourself experiencing an alternative timeline, and reality. But remember, the dream of becoming a king is just one of the many things you have to do today. Time to get back to reality and tackle your real to-do list; your city will be waiting when you return!
