Have you turned your home into a forest of houseplants? If not, chances are you’re about to, because surrounding yourself with greenery is not just on trend, it can also be great for your mental wellbeing.

Being a plant parent is serious business: you are going to be responsible for the survival of hundreds of roots and fronds. These apps will make sure your skills are up to the task – and keep you on top of those watering schedules.

Learn the basics

PictureThis is the perfect place to get started when it comes to understanding your houseplants. On the Home tab, you’ll find digital books on gardening topics. A Full Guide to Popular Houseplants will help you choose the right plants for your home and lifestyle.

Identify your houseplants and, crucially, learn how to look after them.

Keep up the care

Help your houseplants thrive by tracking them in Planta. Take their picture to identify them and, in the My Plants section, organise them by their location in your home – bedroom, hallway, home office etc. Add as many “sites” as you wish.

Get care schedules and tips that’ll help your green friends thrive.

Planta will tell you if a location is suboptimal (if it’s too dark, for example) and recommend more suitable shrubs for a particular area and your skill level. You will get a care schedule for every plant, and the app will remind you when your greenery needs watering, pruning, fertilising or repotting.

Share your plant love

Candide connects you with fellow plant parents. The in-app community provides support for your indoor gardening journey. Ask questions (or answer them) on caring for plants. Be inspired by the photos and articles posted by others or search the Knowledge tab for complete guides on houseplants or plants that are poisonous to pets, for example.

Join a community of plant parents and share or acquire knowledge.

In the Marketplace, list plants you no longer want for sale or adoption, as well as purchase cuttings or established pot plants from others in the community.
