Connecting with family and friends has never been so integral in our lives, and what better way to send some love than with a beautiful greeting card, whether it’s to wish a happy birthday or share a thoughtful sentiment.

The simple yet powerful design app Andalusi will transform your ideas into a stunning card that can be saved and cherished forever.

To get you started, we’ve put together this step-by-step guide so you can take your handwriting skills to the digital world.

Step 1: Create your background

Tap on New Design in the app and a toolbox appears at the bottom of the screen. In the first row, you’ve three options for your background: choose a base colour from the Paint Roll, opt to upload a photo as your background or decide on a mix of a photo and a colourful frame.

Tip: Andalusi is intuitive and flexible when it comes to editing. Tap on a photo or a colour you’d like to edit and it automatically shifts to the respective toolbar, making it seamless to switch back and forth when editing your card.

Step 2: Add colour to your background

Once you’ve selected the colour of your card, if you’d like to add a photo, tap on the Frame to explore images, ready-made templates or upload a photo from your Camera Roll – you can add as many images as you want. When you’ve chosen a background layout, pinch the photo(s) to minimise, maximise and arrange them as you want.

Tip: Andalusi’s toolbox is extensive, so you can explore options for adding filters, shadows and more. Experiment with your design and tap on the Trash Bin anytime you feel the need to delete and start over.

Step 3: Find your font

When you’re happy with the background of your card, tap on the Pen and then on the + sign to add a text box. Write your message, then tap on the Font icon to explore the font library, which features classic, modern and Kufic calligraphy, along with several other styles (such as thin, thick and narrow effects).

Step 4: Add colour to your font

Once your font style is finalised, tap on the Paint Brush to choose your font colour, or tap on the Pipette to select any colour from the image in your background, then add the effects you want.

Tip: Our favourite font effect is Spray Paint, which lets you add a neon-like effect to your message so that it really pops!

Step 5: Save and send

As soon as you’re happy with your design, tap on the share arrow in the top-right corner and choose to share through social media or save to your Camera Roll. Feel you’re not quite done with your masterpiece? Tap on the arrow in the top-right corner to save it to your drafts and come back to it later.

Channel your creativity in the next note you’d like to send and make it a memorable one.
