Description

4 Hats is a mobile application to help people quickly assess the different aspects/identities in their lives through the simple concept of "the hats we wear".

The concept is born out of a practice adopted by the developer Matt and his wife after the birth of their 3rd child. Wanting to make sure they were staying aware of the multiple "hats": Parent, Partner, Employee & Self (hence 4 Hats) that they were wearing and making sure one wasn't getting lost they would check in each Saturday morning over coffee to see how the week felt. Over time this developed into a spreadsheet to measure trends, a deeper clarity on what "balanced" actually meant, and a shared language for talking about how shifts in life situations were impacting their well-being.

The practice resonated with others and soon people were asking for a copy of the spreadsheet to track their own "hats". Eventually, it got to the point where it made sense to turn this into an app (which you're perusing now) in case there are others out there that could benefit from this simple tool to check in with yourself (and other significant persons in your life) to see how balanced things are.

We hope you enjoy the app, the shared language, and the conscious awareness it brings you, as you continue on your journey. Whatever hat you may be wearing, may it always be balanced, keeping the rain off your brow and the sun out of your eyes.

What’s New

Version 1.0.8

- Number Description | To help people understand the meaning of the -3 to +3 I think there should be a descriptor that appears centered under the numbers once that number is selected, probably in that same light grey font of explanation text used. Here is a descriptor for each one:
-3 | Never got to wear it
-2 | Barely got to wear it
-1 | Wore it less than preferred
0 | Balanced
+1 | Wore it more than prefer
+2 | Barely took it off
+3 | Never took it off
