Could be better
The game itself is a masterpiece. But this is the definition of the best and the worst in the same package. Graphics are fabulous, sound design is perfect, story and gameplay are great, as long as you like hard, borderline unfair but oh so very rewarding experiences.
The port though... kinda sad because it really doesn’t do the game justice. I’m on iPad, so I can play with mouse and keyboard, but the touch screen experience is absolutely horrendous. Often, I even get half the screen disappearing because I close the keyboard !
Seriously devs, care about your game and give it a real fix, it deserves it.
Bad iOS port of a great game
I own this game on Mac and I love it, but unfortunately the iPad version leaves a lot to be desired. While the game itself is harrowingly great, the presentation is very frustrating. The UI and controls are still meant to be used with a mouse and keyboard, rather than with touch. Prepare to be frustrated by mistakenly choosing something (tap) when you merely wanted to see the tooltip (long press). Don’t bother trying to see what kind of buffs or debuffs your party or enemies have, since most of the tooltip will be obscured by your finger anyway. Oh, you thought you could scroll text and adventurer roster by swiping? How foolish, you obviously have to press the small arrows on the scroll bar instead! And don’t even bother asking why 20% of the screen real estate is just black letterboxing when all iPads have basically the same aspect ratios. You already know the answer: this is a lazy port of a PC game where no thought has been given to the actual usability of the iOS version.
Save file missing
Started game without Internet connection and a dialog appeared where I pressed cancel. No game saves appeared. Added Internet connection and restarted game, but still no game saves :(
