Interesting but not really fun to play

This is a solid 3/5 stars in enjoyment, kinda dull but has aspects that makes it worth playing. Considering how fast it supposedly was made, it’s surprisingly good.

It’s fresh to see a game like this, but rather than a real game, it’s more of a look at the development of games over the years in the form of a short game, more specifically japanese rpgs, at least that’s the vibe it gives. It’s a short play with nothing much to do and you can see that the ”story” has no thought put into it, they just used the first thing that came to mind when thinking about old cliché rpg developments, it’s to the point where they didn’t care at all. It was also interesting how they blended old and newer styled in real time to solve some simple puzzles.

I liked the look through the history of video games, but I became bored very fast, especially as the chests that gave ”unlocks” in the form of video game breakthroughs and improved aspects of the game dwindled and disappeared for the last parts of the game.

So, while worth playing, it was quite dull. Just what you’d expect from a ”game” hastily thrown together.

I’m going to play evoland 2 now and I hope that they improved it to actully be fun and enjoyable, that they took their time to do things properly and think about the play experience instead of only making it ”playable”.
