geoXplorer is a tool for creating and running outdoor party games like treasure huntings or geo caching, using compass for finding interesting geoSpots in the landscape.

To go and find hidden or secret geoSpots in the landscape is easy. Follow streets, ways or footpaths best possible according to compass and distance in the app. And it's completely free to participate in the game and go and find the interesting sites in the area.

It's also free to use geoXplorer for creating new geoSpots, party game, treasure hunts, geo caches or hikes. Creating is not difficult, but it needs a little more attention and experience to make a good game. Use the geoSpot location recorder for starting a new project. There is a number in the compass ring showing the present accuracy of the gps location recorder. Accuracy gets better over time, as the gps in your iPhone receives signals from the gps-satellites, so best practice is to move a little around for a couple of minutes, until accuracy is pulsating at a low level. Now start walking the last 50 meters in direction of the target. When you are a couple og meters from the target move slowly, and on the exact spot just tap inside the compass ring. Now the geoSpot is recorded and fixed, and you can take your time to make a short description, before saving the dataset to the workBench.

In the workBench, the first thing to do is to test the location of the geoSpot. Move a few hundred meters away from the target and tap play to start the test. Follow streets, ways or footpaths best possible according to compass and distance. When you are very near the target, the compass will change to bullseye and the description you made will pop up. If you are satisfied with the location, you can open the workBench again and edit the short description to a more appropriate text. You can overwrite the description with about ten lines of text. Don't write what everyone can see, but try to make an intersting story about the site or tell your participants, where you hide some goodies. When you are satisfied with your text you save it by tapping the play-button. You can still edit it again if you want, and tap play to save. Before saving the workbench-project to iCloud, you will be prompted to make a short inspiring title for the tour. The title is what people and participants see in the lists or in invitations, and the game for participants is to go and find the geoSpot, so don't use the title to tell them where it is! To copy your project to iCloud, tap save. Now your geoSpot is listed in your own saved geoSpots, and you can afterwards delete it from the workBench and create a new project ...

When the workBench project is saved in your own geoSpots in iCloud, it is possible to publish it for other geoXplorer users to go and find, and you can directly share your geoSpot among friends and family. Published geoSpots will be listed in your published zone, from where you can share it in a message or an airdrop. Publishing has a little fee to pay as an in app purchase. After going public, you can share your geoSpot to as many as you want.
