The best app ever!

I’m not exaggerating, it really is the BEST app ever! Since I started using Goodreads I’ve read much more books than before.

The best part about goodreads is that it exists

Goodreads is the only real alternative in its category - it has all the books in it, millions of reviews and syncs with your kindle as you read. Beyond that, I wake up every day hoping that a competitor has started that actually cares about good UX and book recommendations.

Their app is hopelessly buggy, slow and looks like it was designed around the same time as Amazon's homepage (i.e. around 1994). The book recommendations are worse than what you'd get by burning a library and scouring the ashes for whatever titles didn't burn.

I'd recommend that Amazon puts a dedicated team on it to start improving Goodreads (I assume here that no one has been working on the app since its acquisition - I see no other explanation for absolutely no features or improvements in the last 8 years thay I've been using it).

To anyone out there that also reads books: please start a goodreads competitor, I'll jump ship anytime.
