Great, but free tier a bit decitful

I'd like to start out by stating that this is the best personal finance app I've tried. So kudos for that.

I appreciate the different account types. They allow me to model how my actual accounts are structured. The investment account really helps with this. Otherwise I'm just getting by with the normal bank account type. (I've decided against the loan account type due to it's automations.)

Further I absolutely love the transaction import feature. I tried to use GNUCash before and were tearing my hair out because I couldn't import transfers between accounts. I adore that Money can do that!

I do have a few nitpicks though. First, it feels like the UI on the mac could afford to have more information in it. Elements in views generally feel like they take up to much space. Secondly, I'd like to be able to break down the reports view per sub-category. Thirdly, in the budget view, I'd like to have a concept of cashflow in an account for a given time period. E.g. I have an account where I'd like to put away small amount of money each month. I'd like to be able to budget that the balance of that account should increase by some amount in a time period. Then when reviewing my spending against the budget, I'd like to see if the balance of that account has changed as I expected. In short I'd like to have the option to have the budget view be the current income column minus the current expense column for one combined column.

And finally, why I feel that the free tier is decitful. Your marketing makes it perfectly clear that there is a premium tier accessed with a subscription. I find that tier perfectly fine. The value proposition is rather nice. What you fail to mention on you app store page, and in your app is that without paying I'm gonna be limited to a 100 transactions. I do acknowledge that your in app purchase screen do mention the ability to buy "unlimited account and transactions …" for a price, but given how the design of that view so heavily guides the users to the subscription, it is really easy to miss that. I for example were very confused when I tried importing transactions from a CSV got prompted to subscribe. A small badge on the "All transactions" button on the side bar containing "54 left" could have been an easy indication for user that are playing around with the app to help them understand what is free and what is not. My experience I instead got were that once I've spent a solid day customizing the app to my finances and using it for a month I suddenly got asked to subscribe. I understand that you guys really like to have us subscribe instead of the one time purchase, but I really belive the option of buying the standard tier (and that it is required) is to hidden as it is now.

In summary, great app! I do however feel the fact that the app is not free were cleaverly hidden until I were invested in the app and thus feel a bit duped. I would still recommend the app, and am gonna buy the standard tier.

By far the best personal finance app. The investment section with automatic updates works smoothly, adding stocks, mutual funds i sreally easy, as is adding new accounts be it cash, bank or credit accounts. Five stars.
