Extremely useful

Yes, it’s extremely useful for the one who really need this app’s special features.

It collects GPS coordinates and the MAIN thing is to deliver them and present them. In a very clear and distinct way. Regardless if you want to send them directly to someone or save them in or outside the app. And send them later.

It’s the focus on the wide options of sharing that makes it unique. No fumbling around in your ordinary gps app you normally use for navigation, to grip the coordinates, copy and paste, formatting it for a nice presentation. This app does it on the fly from the push of one or a few buttons. Email or sms ready to send including links for different mapproviders. The preformatting options are really worked on in depth.

You can – and need to – customize the formatting into a really beatiful presentation which looks quite professional if you work on it a bit. To get the data presented into a very clear information in your own taste. With the WGS-84 degrees as a useful basepresentation and other formats already converted to will complement this.

This presentation can be layed out so that it fits at the same time a newbie or a profesional user who needs this for work. When this is done, sending emails with links to different maps with coordinates pinpointed out, links to openstreetmaps show the overview. While for example apple maps links loads the coordinates directly into iphones own gps app ready to navigate to. Fast and convinient. Apple has i simple and similiar way of sharing a gps target but in comparison the applefunction feels like a joke. Useful only for appleusers. Instead My Coordinates app presents the coordinates in many useful ways while making it dummyproof. Very smooth flow.

The custom options for the presentation layout in the payed version are worth the a bit high pricetag for the one who really appreciate nice clean presentation by any reason. It’s simply so much more than an app showing you coordinates on a display with some ordinary sharing. But you do need the payed version to experience this.

The only few things I do miss is the option to further format the text with bold, italic and underlined text. I’ve mentioned that to the developer.

A list to choose even more different converted formats from would be really nice. A bit like the conversionstools out there – but now as an under the hood tool for the presentation in the email/sms. With on the fly delivery – one button to push. It would then work as presets for conversions on the fly.

Speaking about that, an option to save also custompresets for different email layouts in whole would also be a very nice development within the frame of the basepurpose of this app.

As for precision of the coordinates that quite often are complained about when it comes to gps coordinate apps regardless of brand. No one would be as stupid not understanding that this i based on your phones hardware gps. Right? You need to let it find the satelites and stabilize. Read the accuracy value. That tells what your phone delivers…… not the app precison. The gps apps (which ever it is) grabs what is provided from your satelites, phone and the environment. If the phone or the environment doesn’t deliver full accuracy, then the app will not. If you dont fully understand this, use an ordinary map and stay away of using a gps in the wrong manner.

I was actually delighted to find an app like this as a complement to my ordinary everyday navigationapps. Which I easily can get the My Cordinateapp sending coordinates to, from it’s saved coordinate archive – app to app from the share menu. Actually to any app in the share menu, for example Notes.

But the customfeatures in presentationpart is the real gem of this app. Just add some more options for formattimg the text itself, not just the layout. Five stars even if that wont happen.

Perhaps also, as mentioned, more converted formats to the list of precalculated conversions from the WGS-84 referens. I’m personally thinking of the swedish Sweref99, RT-90. Used for swedish maps and such. Its based on a EU format and the mismatch from the referenssystem WGS-84. It also uses on ground referenspoints allover the country for the drifting taken into the calculation of the coordinates. These are updated from time to time. For me, this would just to add to the professional look in the presentation when sending to people who use coordinates for work and their living. Like a serviceminded attitude. They don’t need to use a calculation tool if that converted format is already there. Adding things like this would take the app to an even higher level. But it’s probably a lot of work involved to get that.

The whole app is built on the concept of presentation.

A last point.. but to me one of the larger positives. According to the appstoreinformation about this app’s integrity, the developer will not collect any userdata at all. I could write that in bold or capitals. As it is very uncommon an rare to find. If this is absolutely true, then it is absolutely admirible. A reason on it’s own to buy it. Stick to that policy of integrity.

Long review – the app is worth it.

Update: typos and featues asked for.
