Description

One of the deepest, richest gameplay found in any game on any platform, NetHack is a cult classic since its release in 1987, and has since spawned many descendants (including Diablo). gandreas software now presents this classic for the iPhone/iPod Touch:

- Playable in either "ASCII" mode, or graphics mode (just rotate the device to switch)
- Obscure keyboard commands replaced with a simple taps for movement, or a handy command picker.
- Commands can also be activated by a unique gesture based command - want to search for a secret door? Swipe across the top of the play area (all the gestures are shown on the command picker for easy reference)
- Graphics can be zoomed in/out via pinch
- Completely faithful NetHack experience (all the levels, monsters, potions, scrolls, etc...)
- iPhone UI - standard scrolling lists, pickers, etc...
- Multiple tiles sets, from the classic to the sublime
- Never see a keyboard unless you are doing something like typing in a name!

Can you retrieve the Amulet of Yendor and return to the surface?

Nice retro game but..

Nice retro game but with few flaws. Great with the ASCII version :) Missing keyboard commands (as in iNethack) making it quick to do certain tasks, gesture commands are so slow.. Also missing auto save when pressing the Home key.

best game ever

have played this since I was 11 years old, i'm just one year older than the original hack. but this app seems not to work on iphone 6. I get stuck when it's just black and says nethack for iphone 2008 :(

Not so easy as it looks

Fantastic port of the classic turnbased Nethack game. I used to play this on my SonyEricsson P910 where it crashed after level 6. Also played this on Pc but the iPhone version is best, really rocks. Not for the faint of heart as. You will probably die every time you play in the beginning. And dying means restarting BUT that is what makes this game so addictive. Look at it more like chess without clock which means all time in the world to make your next move. But it better be the right move....
Contrary to other recensions I experience the touch screen interface as genial and easy once you get the hang of it. Try it!
I played for three years now and still have not survived the whole dungeon. See if you can do better :-)
