Note Taker HD 4+

This app is without any doubt the best and most complete note taking app on the App Store! I've tried them all. Noteshelf, Noteability, Notes Plus, Draw Pad, Penultimate, Bamboo Paper, Mental Note, Pen, XNote, neu.Notes+, UPAD and many more not even worth mentioning. I can honestly say that none of them are close to what Note Taker HD can do.
I use this app every day to take notes at lectures and seminars and has done so for two years now. I can't imaging that anyone needs more functionality than this app provides. I don't even use pen or paper anymore. There are two features that Note Taker HD does better than any other note taking app.

1. Zoomed editing! This is an included feature in many note taking apps but none of them has such a flexible and easy way of handling it as Note Taker HD has. Because of all these fat and clumpsy styluses, this tool is indispensable. The ability to change the height of the close-up view from 5 cm to 15 cm and everything between by just grabbing the edge and also very easy change the size of the detail area with a pinching gesture in both the page view and the close-up view are to options that you can't live without . Especially if you take more complex notes with lots of different figures with varying sizes, shapes and detail. This is the case when you, for example, wanna draw a grid or a diagram with several and detailed lines and objects. To able to use the eraser in both page view and close-up up view while in close-up view is also something can't live without after using it a couple of times.

2. PDF export! You can customize every output and the options you get are all you can ask for and much more. You can even create footnotes, page numbering and set different output formats such as A4.

There are many, many more amazing features in this app like video output with zoom and pan, PDF annotation, import images, one file backup system, copy and paste between and in pages, thumbnail images list of documents, "Open in..." and e-mail PDF, organize pages and folders, auto-advance, customizable shapes, free templates and clip art, wrist-guard, password protection and you can even share editable copies of your pages with your friends! I don't have the time to list them all but take my word for it. And also, everything is included when you buy it. Not like some other worthless note taking app who charge an extra buck for background paper. That's just annoying! The developer also keeps this app up-to-date.

The bad things I can say about this app is that the layout looks pretty boring and doesn't feel "appleified". Noteshelf has a very beautiful interface layout and I wish Note Taker HD could look more like this. Also the ink management is pretty boring. I'm not actually sure if this is a bad or a good thing but it's not just as fun to draw with NTHD compared to Noteshelf, Notability, Penultimate and Bamboo Paper. Theirs ink management engines are speed sensible and change the width of the ink when you're motion is faster. This is not the case when using NTHD. The ink is the same width all the time and it feels boring and "robotic". But like I said, I don't know if this is a bad thing. It could get messy if you need to draw details and lots of ink in the same place. With NTHD it never gets messy and when you output PDF and enable the "ink smoothing" it looks quite beautiful. But I'd really like to at least have the option to turn on "ink-feel".

Don't get me wrong, this app is complete and the best you can buy. But if the GUI was changed to something funnier and maybe easier-to-use and you'd also have the ability to turn on real ink smoothness it could be appreciated by everyone using an iPad. Until then, I'd say this is an app suited for more experienced users.

This is the best note taking app available for the ipad and boy, have i tried them all. Many if the apps are missing some of the functionality that I need for writing my math and teaching notes like writing on a zoomed area while still being able to view the whole document. I can even write zoomed while projecting the document on a projector for students to follow. The quality of the notes is wonderful and I create pdfs with this app of my notes all the time.
The developer keeps this app up to date when needed and quite good with support as well (although I've never had any problems). I've bought many a note taking app, but this is the best one yet!

Den här har jag använt sedan jag fick tag på ipad 1 och varit supernöjd med hela tiden. Den utvecklas till det bättre hela tiden. Det kanske inte är den snyggaste men det är den som bäst klarar uppgiften, jag har testat några stycken. Den är bäst att jobba med och det är enkelt att exportera och katalogisera sina anteckningar. Rekommenderas varmt!!
