OmniFocus — now celebrating 10 years as the trusted, gold-standard to-do list app — brings unrivaled power and flexibility to your Mac, making it easy to work the way you want to work.

OmniFocus manages everything in your busy life. Use projects to organize tasks naturally, and then add tags to organize across projects. Easily enter tasks when you’re on the go, and process them when you have time. Tap the Forecast view — which shows both tasks and calendar events — to get a handle on your day. Use the Review perspective to keep your projects and tasks on track.

Then let our free syncing system make sure your data is the same on every Mac. (And on OmniFocus for iOS and Web, available separately.) Because your data is encrypted, it’s safe in the cloud.

Flexible and simple at the same time

I've used OmniFocus for a few years and have all my work and personal action items in this app. It works great for me since I can customize a lot of different features to match the methodology I use for tasks. The only drawback I have is that some functionality I wish for is missing and that the cost of the app is quite expensive, especially since I want to use the app both on the mac and on the iphone.

The Omni Group have ruined this once great app

I switched to Omnifocus roughly eight years ago having found the ultimate application to use (in companion with Evernote and iCal) to perform a full GTD implementation. I took the necessary weeks off to set everything up in the apps and my home according to the GTD methodology and for years I happily used Omnifocus as one of the three pillars of my workflow. Unfortunately Omnifocus is NOT what it once was! The last two years the development of this app has spiraled out of control, destroying features, sabotaging workflows and ultimately ruining the app. Today it is infested with bugs and illogical UI behaviour.

So here is a quick tip: Do you need ALOT of features? Are you going to implement full GTD? If not, stay far away from Omnifocus. Two years ago I would have recommended it to anyone but today the ONLY reason I still use it is that no other application I have tried has the same feature set.

You can no longer control the app simply with a keyboard and some procedures that used to require 4 key presses to complete in Omnifocus 2 now requires around 9 hotkeys.. Omnigrop acts surprisingly defensive when I contact the support and I had a sad realization when talking to them: they dont understand what made the first and second version of Omnifocus so darn good . . . They really don’t know. Today, browsing and editing lists, actions and tags are not stream-lined but slow and clunky. The UI is unreliable - one thing works here but not there, selections jump all around the place when editing items, If you delete the tag over there it does one thing if you delete it over here it does another and you can not change it. . . The settings are also jumbled up and in conflict with the settings on iOS forcing you to decide if you want a good workflow on your Mac or only on iPhone - so I had to sacrifice my workflow on iPhone and Omnifocus does NOT want fix it after multiple support calls. (this has to do with clean-up rules that used to be separate for iOS and MacOS) The team that works with Omnifocus today does not understand what made Omnifocus great. Omnifocus used to have the reliabilty of a professional application and a feature set with almost endless possibilities. It is no longer reliable, but still complicated - a horrible combination!

Update: A good stretch of a year later. This situation is unfortunately the same.
