RAW Power® has the best Finder, Photos and iCloud integration of any non-Apple photo app, plus advanced RAW editing, ratings and more.

RAW Power is three tools in one:

1) A fast, non-destructive image editor app. No need to import - RAW Power can quickly browse any folder on your disk.
2) An Apple Photos library app. It is also compatible with iCloud Photos, so any Photos library changes you make sync to your other Macs and iOS devices.
3) A Photos editing extension.

Any way you use it, you get the same impressive editing features. With either app mode, you can rate, flag, and filter too.

RAW Power is great with JPEGs, with powerful adjustments absent from Apple's Photos (such as LUTs, Depth Effect and Chromatic Aberration)

If you loved Aperture's advanced RAW processing, you'll feel at home with RAW Power. Adjustments like Boost, previously only available in Aperture, help you improve your images in ways that simply can't be done in any other application.

Smooth, stable and easy-to-use

As a hobbyist that only shoots with a mirrorless camera every now and then I could never justify the subscription for Adobes software. I tried Capture One as well, but couldn't get used to it. It wasn't as quick and intuitive as lightroom.

I keep both my cameras and iPhones pictures in Apple Photos, but always found the editing tools there lackluster for handling my RAW files.

Enter RAW Power.
It integrates seamlessly with my photos library and provides a lot more editing tools for my photos. From the get-go the interface felt familiar and clean. It doesn’t overwhelm you but provides you with a neat, tidy and logical layout. It’s easy to use and provides a good overview of my library, folders and albums.

Some notes - The lens correction tool is something I need to master as I’ve been spoiled by lightrooms automatic correction in the past. The developer does have a lot of videos on YouTube for those interested in learning the ins and outs of the program.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the sharpening tool. This is usually a place where I’ve opted to jump into Photoshop in the past (Affinity Photo now that I don’t have an adobe subscription) for some selective sharpening in order to not over-sharpen the whole picture and introduce unnecessary noice/artefacts. RAW Power handles this well though and for basic sharpening I haven’t felt the need to jump into another program.

Overall RAW Power is a good middle-ground between heavy weights such as Lightroom and programs that are too basic (e.g Apple Photos). I’ve been very happy with Raw Power and Affinity Photo as replacements for Lightroom Photoshop. 85% of my time is spent in Raw Power, 15% in Affinity.

Thing’s I’d like to see added is smart albums, though it’s something I can live without.

If you’re a hobbyist than this should provide you with more than enough editing tools for your photography needs. I really urge you at the very least to try the trial on the developers website!

Good, but does not support all cameras it claims to do

Simple to use and good results, but one major disappointment is that it does not support all cameras it claims to do, e.g. Fujifilm X100V.

Developer Response ,

The X100V is supported, but only the uncompressed files. The Apple web page is incorrect and I have alerted them. Sorry for that. Improved camera support is coming soon!
