Description

This is the best app to track your climbing and boulder sessions automatically. Redpoint gives you detailed overview and feedback on your ascents.

Use your Apple Watch or iPhone as a fitness tracker for bouldering and climbing. Contribute your climbing session to closing your daily rings! Workouts are stored in HealthKit and therefore visible in the Health app and Workouts app as well.

After each session you will see detailed information about your climbs: the overall height, your heart rate, duration, maximum ascent height, ascending speed, difficulty of routes, and most importantly: Redpoint will give you personalized training suggestions based on that data. How to go from V4 to V5? Or from 5.11b to 5.11c? Redpoint creates a training plan just for you to achieve your next climbing goals.

So, how does that work?
Thanks to highly advanced machine learning we are able to classify climbing movements right on Apple Watch. In addition to that we use the built-in barometer to measure the ascended altitude. You can track the difficulty of ascended routes right from the Apple Watch.

Works For:
- Bouldering
- Top Rope
- Sport Climbing
- Trad Climbing
- Multi Rope (Alpine)
- Free Solo
- Aid Climbing
- Via Ferrata

What’s New

Version 3.7.3

This update adds a workaround for altitude tracking if you have iOS 17.4 or watchOS 10.4 or newer installed:

Unfortunately, Apple introduced a bug with the latest updates which prevents barometric data from being delivered to the device.
Instead of waiting for them to fix this, we have introduced a workaround:

You now have to grant permission to Motion & Fitness data when you start a new workout.
This is only necessary once, and afterwards you should be able to use Redpoint as usual.

I am very sorry for this unexpected behavior!

On top of that, this update fixes an issue where logging into a TheCrag account could lead to a crash when opening settings.

Great app…..but

Really a great app but like to get compatibility with OS wear watches like Suunto and Garmin.

Fun for a while..

I appreciate the app trying to do something in this space and the alternatives are pretty bad but it’s just not very useful right now. It’s fun to log grades for a while but it quickly gets old when you realise you can’t do much with the data. I love the idea tho and really wish it could be more.

Some suggestions:
* More and better visualisation of stats to make it more fun and engaging. For example trends over time (“Looks like you are progressing/regressing here”). See how other workout apps do this, even Apple Fitness does it.
* Richer tracking. Allow tracking more than just grade, for example if the climb is slab/vert/overhang or the type of the holds like crimpy/slopers/idk. Separate gym/outdoor climbs. Without better stats it’s pretty useless but it could give pretty good insight to strengths and weaknesses.
* Integration with Vertical Life that lets you tick actual published routes. A lot of gyms spend time publishing all routes and they even include the characteristics of the route. Few people tick, probably because the app is so bad. Would be so cool if you didn’t have to use all these separate apps. Next level: Imagine ticking a route by tapping the watch against an NFC sticker 🤯

Watch is great but stats are useless

The only climbing tracker with watch app. That’s exactly what you need at the gym, but the stats and summaries are incredibly uninspiring and pretty much wasted. It needs trends, current flash grade, averages, totals and so on.

...oh and some sends are displayed in the difficulty graph but missing in the list

Developer Response ,

Hey! Thanks a lot for your feedback! I take your suggestions seriously, and I agree they could be a lot better (especially the long term stats). If you have any specific suggestions for metrics you’d like to see in the upcoming updates, please feel free to get in touch! My email is redpoint@frogg.io

Also, the next Update will bring better consistency for tracked difficulties and detected ascents.
