Description

+++ This is the legacy version of Tap Forms. Tap Forms Organizer 5 + Secure Database is the new version which has many new features. If you have OS X 10.11 or newer, purchase version 5 instead of this version. +++

Tap Forms is a very powerful organizational tool designed to help you keep track of all your life's most important information.

+++ Mac Format Magazine (March, 2014) - Simple to use Databases:
"Tap Forms is the clear winner by a mile. The user interface is beautifully Mac-like, the structuring of data is similar enough to Bento that it offers only a shallow learning curve, it offers a direct import of Bento templates, and the iOS companion app is great."

+++ Tap Forms for iPhone, iPad and Mac each sold separately +++

Use Tap Forms to track your inventory at work and manage your household items at home. Great for insurance and accounting purposes! It's even great for managing your holiday gift lists or keeping track of all your expenses and to-dos.

If you're a master chef in the kitchen, you can use Tap Forms to manage your entire library of delicious cuisines.

Are you a movie buff but you have too many movies to keep track of? That's easy, since Tap Forms can help you categorize, rate, and manage your entire movie collection. Never forget who you've lent your movies to ever again.

And with built-in support for iCloud, now you can keep all your Tap Forms data on your iPhone and iPad in sync with your Mac. So when you're out at the store trying to remember if you already own a copy of The Terminator, just look it up on your iPhone using Tap Forms for iOS!

Speaking of looking up stuff, Tap Forms now has Saved Search Rules. With Saved Search Rules, you can create any number of filters that helps you find and sort through thousands of pieces of information as quickly as you can tap a button. It's your data just the way you want, in an instant!

Note: iCloud sync requires Tap Forms 3.9.2 for iPhone, Tap Forms HD 3.9.2 for iPad and iOS 8. Each sold separately.

Hard to say after 3 days of use

PROS: This database app has all the ‘basics’ needed for simple data-base needs. While probably not for complex or professional use, it works quite well in our scenario (Pencil & Paper Role Playing Games). Somewhat fast. Somewhat clean interface.Syncing via iCloud is somewhat fast.
CONS: Doesn’t play well with El Capitan Split-View. Sometimes the edit form fields remain the same even when changing forms. Sometimes the lists options (within app settings) don’t take. Syncing seems a little graphically convoluted when compared to other iCloud syncing app’s graphics depicting syncing.
VERDICT: It seems there’s a polarizing effect with reviews and this app. I’m only a few days in and will update this review in a couple weeks once I’ve really used the app more. Having said that the app (and associated ios app) seem to work fairly well and aren’t terribly expensive. Thus, you get what you pay for and it feels like a middle-of-the-road app thus far.

Better then Bento!

I have been very concerned with the fact that Bento has been discontinued. I have continued using it, cause I couldn’t find any alternative. With the release of Yosemite Bento is ni longer an option - it takes minutes for it to start, and it doesn’t feel secure to use anymore. I had tried Tap Forms out previously, but didn’t think it did the job. Now I found my self forced to give it another try - It’s great. It has evolved since I tried it the last time, and the few things I wasn’t really satisfied with, Brendan either solved more or less instantly, or has promised to fix in the next release. (Support is unbelievable! It seems like Brendan is always on line - a reply mostly arrives with in an hour or so.)
It takes a little bit longer to get in to, compared with Bento, and perhaps it isn’t as intuitve, but it’s better. I find my self with databases that are more flexible, and that look better on different screens (iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPhone). Bento - R.I.P!

Great one

I have used Bento for many years to organize my customers and order-files. Since Bento unfortunately was cancelled about a year ago I have been looking for a replacement without success. I tried Tap Forms early on but found it not appropriate to my needs and a bit buggy. But when I gave it another chance and allowed myself to change some of my workflows I have discovered a fantastic software for organizing my files and get a working local CRM system.

I still have some issues with the iCloud sync which probably is as much apples fault as Tap Forms and i would like to be able to put the database at another place than the default one (i.e. my bento-file is placed in my dropbox to ensure that I always reach the data).

But the support given from Brendan is outstanding, fast replies and good suggestions, and patience with annoying customers :)
