I like what I see! Week view is innovative.

It’s hard to pick a calendar app on iOS. Why? There are so many of them. And like software for macOS, many alternatives are good one—and a few are really good.

This is an are—along with email, reminders and note-taking—where iOS and Apple really shines. Not only are there a lot of great apps in each category, but the built-in apps are actually pretty good.

iCal, or simply the Calendar app is basic, the UI is clean with only a few buttons and elements that are absolutely necessary. It feels like Apple has been stripping down its Calendar for years. It works well, it’s solid and I’ve never experienced a crash. In fact, I think the Calendar has an extremely light footprint.
The minimalistic UI could be a result of the fact that most of the important settings live inside the System Settings.

However—if you like to pay for software a Fantastical is a fine option. It’s, well, fantastic, and it’s great on the Mac as well.

(Please note, IAP and monthly or yearly subscription applies for some features that a user—who downloads an alternative to the default app to begin with—probably would want.)

Another option, without subscription, is Calendars 5 by Readdle (the creator of Spark, the email client). I like it, and there is a more limited free version for this one as well (which I haven’t tried).

Otherwise, try Tiny Calendar. I like how good it is at showing entire months or customized periods like three or four days.

Fantastical, Calendars 5, Tiny Calendar—here are three great apps that I could recommend to everyone looking for a new calendar app.
