Drawboard PDF: paperless tools 4+

Good launch. Missing some features.

Good start. Inking feels really good but I hope they'll allow us to turn off pressure sensitivity in the future. I prefer a constant with pen. The eraser function feels very rudimentary right now and doesn't support double tap to toggle between eraser and last used too. No shortcuts to undo and redo either. Hopefully they'll implement two and three finger undo in the future. It's a beta, so temper your expectations.

Critical defects in Drawboard PDF on iOS & PC

1. Regardless iOS or PC version, when open drawings that contains large text or number info such as house layout plan, Drawbard PDF display very muddy/blur compare with Adobe reader which sharpness is 10 times better. Ok, maybe this is not a fair comparison, but 3rd parties App/software like PDF Xchange Viewer , PDF 24 etc is still display much better than Drawboard, at least can read when page in 100%. The foundation of a good software is not how many function you can offer, it needs to down to basic need of clear information delivery even needs it function as PDF reader!

2. Good that Drawboard PDF offering cloud sync, but it is quite gimmick, for someone who don’t use pen often on iPad, text input is a tool that use most of time while marking PDF, however, when iPad done with text input, PC sync is showing 90° rotation in real-time, vice versa. There is no way to make them both show in same orientation in sync unless I exported them as separated file then transfer over each other to continue the work flow…

Drawboard PDF is a great App which I totally agree, but it lack of polish on some basic feature such as contain display and text input, hope they can be fix in the next update and they should be the top priority issue to patch

Thanks for letting us know your thoughts on our new IOS app, The blurriness you would be experiencing would our application trying to render a large pdf file that you are describing. We would love for our apps performance to continually improve over time so that you dont have to wait so long for the PDF to render.

In Regards with our Store and share, and the rotation problems you are getting, that's an interesting one that we will have to explore.

Beware! Will try and force you to keep upgrading

Drawboard are obviously monitoring the documents you are viewing/editing with their tool. I received a message stating “Your access has been suspended” prompting me to upgrade to a ‘commercial licence’ (this is AFTER I purchased a licence). There are constant prompts to get you to ‘upgrade’ - very disingenuous of them commercially.
The tool itself is so-so - It will get you by but there are plenty of issues that will frustrate you from the save features (seriously lacking!), the menu system (archaic!) to the outright poor quality of the product and then there is the way the architecture is designed to restrict you until you upgrade (again!). There are much better products out there at a more reasonable price - lesson learnt for me!
