Fallout Shelter Online 12+

This game was definitely a huge step up from the old one. The social networking features are a plus, playing with friends is always better. The overhauled map / story system was also great! The graphics also gave off a retro vibe which is typical of the franchise. Only thing I thought could be improved was the tutorial. It was a little lengthy and got boring at times

TL;DR: just another pay-wall game using Bethesda’s & the Fallout Universe IP.

The original FO: S was a simple game that didn’t had much content; but it captured the essence of what made the Fallout franchise and Bethesda great in the first place. When Tom Howard announced FO:S as an introduction prior to releasing FO:4 in the same year, fans went basically nuts. The game was fun, simple, and enjoyable and paid homage to the main FO series. You can literally get by the whole game without spending a single cent because that was the idea; to keep us busy while waiting for FO:4 to be released. This version feels like it’s just a copy and a shell of its former self. Within days you’re hit with a pay-wall. Everything is so expensive to upgrade. You can farm resources for over 12 hours and upgrading ONE single hero’s skill wipes it all away. Half of the time you’re just waiting for your resources to be farmed to upgrade 1-2 skills and the cycle repeats itself over and over. While it was great to see all the familiar faces & visit Boston again in a mobile game, the mechanics leaves less than a desirable taste in the mouth. Here’s a suggestion: honour the fallout franchise first, instead of focusing on pay-to-win mechanics. You’re just spitting in the face of Long term FO fans with this thing you call a FO game. First it was FO 76 and now this ? What happened to you Bethesda?

I don’t understand why when you update an app, everything gets deleted and you have to start from scratch all over again. I installed this game on April 2022 and literally clawed my way to the top while barely spending any money. By September 2022, I was one of the top 20 players in PVP and you bet I was so proud of all the progress I made. Then an update comes around and basically erased all my efforts and progress I’ve made and forced me to start from scratch. At this point, Im so distraught over all the time and effort I have spent grinding it out that I am never picking this game ever again. 6 months of none stop grinding and this the reward I get, a huge middle finger to a dedicated player.

Update: So redownloaded the game checked on the compensation i got after the update that basically deleted all my progress. Just 6 SSR dwellers, some resources and gold vault token. Really? Is that enough to compensate of all the prewar money and gems I’ve saved up, all the time I’ve put in, all the multi-medaled dwellers Ive accumulated over the months? What I got was literally an insult to to everything I’ve lost. Absolutely ridiculous.
