after reviewing many books using this app, i guess it’s about time i reviewed the app itself :’)

i think that goodreads is a useful tool - it helped me to pick up the habit of reflecting on a book after i’ve read it through the practice of leaving reviews. and this seems like a small change, but it really isn’t. i feel that it makes a huge difference in your reading experience and is so much better than just chucking the book aside immediately after reading it.

the best thing about goodreads is probably the community aspect of it. it’s not a simple list to keep track of all the books you’ve read, it’s a platform where you can share your book reads along with your reviews, and also see what your friends are reading and what they think. it’s helped me find a lot of new books that i’m interested in checking out, and more importantly i find that oftentimes from a lot of the reviews there’s a lot to learn and be considered - like the different perspectives one may take on a book.

however, there are some limitations to the app. i’ve experienced a bit of lag here and there, but mostly it’s not significant to warrant a true complaint. although for friend requests, i seem to be unable to view/accept them on the app, and i have to turn to the desktop version instead. it’s be nice if that was fixed, and the app could run smoother, but overall i’d definitely recommend this app!

Please have .5 in the ratings for more accurate ratings out of 5!!!

Love the app, love the culture and love the interface. Only issue i have is more often than not i feel restricted that i cant add .5 to my ratings. Some books feel too low for 5, too high for 4. Please add a .5 rating 💞💞

User experience

I love how I am able to keep track of my book reviews and my progress. I do however think there should be improvements in the way users can communicate with each other, display a list of who and what we have commented on others eg 1 week timeline of our response. Posting pictures of our book with coffee or tea stains. Sharing our emotions when we r reading. Recording our reading 2 min or so and uploading it so that other listening can advice if we are pronouncing the word wrongly. There shd be more user interaction in the platform. This is my personal view.
