Auto off and on frequently

The apps tends to auto off and then instantaneously on again. There were occasions where the apps would go off mode whilst we were on navigation screen. We have to manually toggle back to grab apps and on the apps again.

There were times passengers complaint that their apps shown that we have not arrived (4-5 mins) but in reality we have already arrived.

Distance computation is always faulty because when we referenced with either google map it Wase, grab distance at least 50-60% of the time fall short. This led to wrong fare computation. The drivers lost up the most in this situation. I believe grab apps didn’t take into consideration of route accessible by car.

Ride Scam by Riders

Every MPV drivers will meet unreasonable riders who insisted they booked a 6-Seater car when their booking is for 4. Most MPV drivers have higher operating cost, being deprive of actual earning by rider Pax-Scam is quite common. Whether Premium or Economy, such scam existed. Driver only have as little as 6 driver non-affecting cancellation a week doesn’t necessary help on top of the times the need to cancel on restricted pick-up zones, which are a big problem.

I know other ride-sharing app has option for driver to upgrade booking service from 4 to 6 passengers. Avoiding dispute is to have rider acknowledge the upgrade in-app after driver initiate ‘upgrade of service’ before ‘Pick-up’ is initialised. If rider decline in-app, driver can then choose to cancel booking. This protect both the driver and rider, and it increase successful trip and being fair to partners operating higher cost. Cheapskate riders will always contest surcharges to gain benefits, i believe this is a waste on time on Grab customer service and driver’s effort and time, not to mention waste of resources such as fuel.

Having to explain to riders that their booking is for 4 is a waste of time and effort when their pick-up location is indicated as ‘No-Waiting’, by showing that their service can be upgraded to 6-Seater with relevant fare adjustment easily tells them they’re wrong to assume it is a bonus to receive a 6-seater for the price of 4. Thank you.

Okay user experience

Had to toggle between navigation app and driver app too frequent. UI design kind of B grade touch and feel, and improvements are needed like notify passenger when pickup location is nearer rather than user press I’ve Arrived, and also missed few incoming requests while on navigation app or attending to passenger needs like help passenger to unload their luggage. I know it has auto accept but some driver prefer manual and I guess knowing passenger pick up location is important too prior to start the ride journey because if I auto accept it but I am not sure or do not know where is it might cause the passenger to wait longer and I think manual can help planning the next route too because it allows driver to have a quick pause moment. I think it can be more streamlined to fewer tap during picking and dropping off passenger. I think it would be fair to both driver and passenger to include cancellation fee to passenger if the arrival time within 4-5 mins to the pick up location as we, driver made effort to go to the passenger.
