I've been a user long enough to make a fair and balanced judgment, so here is my honest, unbiased opinion. HomePay does what it promises to do. For every tranche payment, it gives the ID 50%, while the remaining 50% is held in escrow before works are approved. It gives me a great sense of security, rather than just transferring $$ to the ID directly and hoping they will complete works. Even going with reputable firms, or friends/family IDs would not guarantee that your renovation goes smoothly. There are many cases where it goes south, leaving homeowners helpless. Two areas of improvement: 1) When I click into an ID in the middle of the ID directory, and return to the main page, it brings me back up to the very top where I started. I would have to scroll back to where I was which largely affects the user experience. 2) The app is smooth, but there have been 1-2 instances where I experienced app crashes. Also in between different pages, there are times where it would load for ~1 second. Not a big issue, but of course as a consumer, it would be better if this downtime can be cut down, or be more instantaneous. Overall, highly recommend to homeowners. You can trust them because your money is ultimately held in a DBS Custodian account during escrow. HomePay is simply a facilitator of sorts for you to deposit, hold and transfer your money, just like any other bank app.

A great bonus is being able to earn credit card miles through the platform. Overall, it made handling my first reno payment so much easier, safer, and more rewarding.

After going through the entire renovation process, my husband and I are very happy to have used this payment method for our renovation. It was our first time ever renovating, while juggling our wedding planning, so there was a lot of added stress and worry in the past year. However, the information on Homepay was very insightful! My husband was especially weary about scam stories because he had a close friend who encountered a similar situation with his ID. Choosing to pay for our renovation through Homepay alleviated a lot of such worries! Because we could release our payment in phases rather than paying large amounts to the ID in good faith, it gave us more confidence and helped our working relationship with our chosen ID! Knowing that our money is stored in escrow in DBS gave us freedom from worry and mind games, to focus our attention on the design of our house rather than such administrative matters. An additional perk was that they accepted credit cards, and we could collect miles to fly business for our honeymoon :-) a real hack, in my opinion!

Hearing all the renovation scams lately, I was afraid that my interior designer might scam me and ask to pay more during the process. I found homepay and starting using the app and found that i can work with ids that are already engaged with homepay so it's very good for new homeowners like me reducing the trouble and hassle. The renovation process was safe and secure as there was a step by step way to do things such as approving the project, tranche before paying. so far on my first tranche and the first payment was smooth & i felt safe paying my reno through this app 👌🏽
