Mayhem Combat 9+

Would have been 3 stars...

Interesting game from the get-go. I have played this for about two days. Which I feel is enough for games of this genre.

First off the good.

1. Really nice graphics and character creation. Would have loved to see a short back story of these wonderful characters. But i suppose they just wanted to showcase that “mayhem” or “whackiness” that was totally apparent from the moment I started the game up.

The graphics were powered by unreal. So that’s good enough for me. The animation of your attacks will get u craving for more.

2. Good connection and relatively lag free. I have had only 2 issues of lag out of many games (mayhem royale). That said - I was using a very stable WiFi connection.

3. Interesting combinations that can be done with different characters. They can be upgraded with crates that you can either purchase or get with time or wins on their online platform.

4. One of the biggest pros for me, was the control of the characters. It’s very straight forward. You can opt for the joystick mode (which I have not tried). There’s also this nice feel that you are able to “grasp” or “climb” on walls that’s very refreshing. I haven’t felt this from any other side scroll fighting games before. VERY Fluid in my opinion.

5. The inclusion of traps in the different maps are interesting as well. Not a new genre, but it’s a nice touch to that crazy vibe you should get when playing.

6. Levelling is easy. I levelled up to 34-36 in one day. Although I did spend a bit for their crates. However, this game doesn’t leverage a mighty lot on P2W. Of course there’s that tendency you might meet a jacked up character (on Online Vs Play). You can get more gold or crates by viewing their in-game ads.

7. Replay value is good so far.

8. Their matching system to me - was quite good. I’ve seen some comments on level matching that wasn’t fair. I think there’s a discrepancy there though. Yes, most of the time - high levels do mean stronger/upgraded characters - but could it have been a case where the matching was based on similarities in power of the characters. I’m saying this - because it would really be unfair if you met a level 10 P2P player... just saying.

9. Nice to know that your scores are not lost when the game does hang.

Now the cons of the game.

1. As much as there isn’t lag on a stable connection. The game does hang before or after an online fight. And you really have to close the app for it to run again. There isn’t a way around that.

2. It takes quite a long time for you to level up if ur not P2W. In this game - coins are very important. You do get double when you watch an ad, but that’s still a long way from upgrading your weapons or character.

3. There should be a section where players can practice their combos.

4. More maps would be good for the Mayhem Royale. Sidenote* It’s easy to form a strategy and overpower people in that map, due to the fact that there’s only one place where the healing spawns at.

5. There is a slight edge for characters that fight with throwing weapons only. But that’s only for early gamers. However I do notice that - they survive very long in mayhem Royale.

6. The spending is in euros. So the conversion is shown later. Although to be fair - they did indicate the currency.

Overall it’s a very good game. The developers definitely did a good job with the game. Much thought was put into it, and the results are what you see. There’s this simplicity in the game that’s quite rare these days. Like not having a chatbox or “share on Facebook” makes this game very honest and genuine.

Poor matchmaking

Just started my first few games and I get lumped with a Lvl 14 player when playing Online. Got 2 shorted. Don’t see the point in playing at all. Shouldn’t there be like a + - 3 level limit at least, to maintain balance in the game?

So many of ads build in!

Game play so far so good...Many built in ads when playing game, very annoying..Why not like crash Royale no built in ads at all..Delete the game
