Hi. Sometimes when i use Safari, i accidentally click onto a link, then something popped up and said that waning, i have a virus. i get so nervous that i click it away immediately so i downloaded this when that happened the second time. It said that i am good. Does this app like check for viruses online?
Overthought (or One that Lacked User Testing) App that Locked Settings
While we are thinking to have a peace of mind with an app that prevent hacks, the McAfee mobile had me feeling that I have been hacked. It is ironical, isn’t it. What is lacking are the explanations on what would be switched on when you installed the app. My banking app, Apple store app and worst, App Store app all failed to work when you activate all the options on the McAfee Mobile app. I spent a day reformatting my iPhone and restoring everything from iCloud. The most challenging part was that it locked the password that the iPhone needs for erasing the content and settings. It was a very painful experience, thinking that you have been hacked, and the truth is that the app that you think is helping you against it, is doing that. Now I think I should also check my desktop version to ascertain that it is not also causing it to be so slow in processing. What a shame….

Lousy customer service, app doesn’t work
Would have given zero stars if it was possible, especially since it’s a paid subscription we’ve got, but are unable to use it.
Thought it would be as simple as downloading and getting set up on the app all within a few clicks but couldn’t be further from the truth. Only thing that worked was the downloading process, and that was it. Went in perpetual loops for more than an hour being told there’s an error (but no mention of what it was or how to troubleshoot). Retried, waited, went about it in all combinations possible and still no closer to getting it working on the phone.
Contacted customer service and was told the engineers will look into this, but no reply after more than half a month and with no means of contacting them again about the case they’ve logged. Tried to reach out with a separate case number (no choice) and wasted another hour being told to just wait. Asked if it will even be resolved at all, or what could be the issue, no answer — just the same line of being told to wait and that the engineers will get back to me.
It’s been a month since, and your guess is as good as mine whether they’ve reached out again (obviously not). Can we get a refund for the subscription already!
