All permissions are optional and require consent (you can continue using Skype without granting these permissions, but certain features may not be available).
• Contacts - Skype can sync and upload your device contacts to Microsoft's servers so that you can easily find and connect with your contacts that already use Skype.
• Microphone - The microphone is needed for people to hear you during audio or video calls or for you to record audio messages.
• Camera - The camera is needed for people to see you during video calls, or for you to be able to take photos or videos whilst you’re using Skype.
• Location - You can share your location with other users or use your location to help find relevant places near you.
• Photo Library - Storage is needed to be able to store photos or to share your photos with others you may chat with.
• Notifications - Notifications allow users to know when messages or calls are received even when Skype is not actively being used.

Simple, clear and affordable
Skype has been a huge help to do business and international calls to landlines. I find sometimes the connection is even better and clearer than our telco network. It has been improving over the years. Well done and thank you. Please don’t close down!
High rates with non inclusive services.
I do not recommend skype for budget minded persons or people that only will use occasionally.
Subscribed for personal use as an expat to have a US phone number for occasional use. Overall it’s expensive compared to alternatives and the quality is just ok. Be prepared to make an investment of annual subscription for the number + cash account for sms + monthly subscription for calls. SMS rates are not transparent or easy to find. They are charged as being sent from my country of residence. No personalized voicemail option so it looked suspicious while trying to verify change of phone number with certain businesses.
Tip for Apple users: after you subscribe to your monthly auto renewing incoming/outgoing call plan (this is the default and only option) you can cancel it before the month passes to avoid recurring charges and get the full 30 days.
I regret to not moving my US cell number to google voice or another alternative before moving overseas - would be much cheaper, consistent, and easy for the few times a year needed.
Keeps ringing
When I use my iPhone to make a call, I can hear dial/ring tone still playing even after I made a connection. It keeps on playing in the background and is very annoying. Now I've got Skype on several devices an iMac (work) and MacBook (personal) but neither are ringing when I make that Skype call. The app on those 2 other devices are on but running in the background so to speak. It's never happened before just something I've noticed in the last 4-5 months.
