Ice hockey app made by people who never seen a match?
This app is very well made! But the game play does not resemble much of ice hockey at all.
Coaching decisions are very limited and there is no guide on how your strategic moves affect the outcome of the games.
The matches are so random. I don’t really know who I am playing against other than the teams overall star value and preparation %. I can see the overall skill for their players, but I can’t see if they are big and slow, or fast and skilled, to prepare my team accordingly. The only strategic preparation is basically “play your best team” and make sure they have morale and fitness.
The match report gives you a list of how each player performed but it’s not actionable. You don’t really know WHY they struggled or did well. Did your best player have an off day? Was he matched against their top line which proved to be too much? Is he having poor chemistry with his line mates? You have no clue. If a player has a high star value, I will probably just continue playing him in the next match, even though he didn’t play well in the last match.
Shots can be 40-60 in 1 game which is unheard of and I don’t think I ever scored on power play. If I win the match, and get a shutout (opponents does not score) I get bonus points in the ”league”. What’s Hockey about that? There is also no “draw” in the league for whatever reason. The league has like 100+ teams in it and you have no clue who they are.
You just play in your own little bubble, level up your arena and try to get better players to throw into your team.
It feels like this game is made by people who want to capitalise on making a nice looking Hockey Manager game but does not know anything about Hockey.
