One of the biggest movies of the year is coming home. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the latest epic from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is now available to stream for all Disney+ subscribers – and it’s just part of a flurry of new titles premiering today on Disney+ Day.
Quick take: Simu Liu stars as Shang-Chi, the MCU’s first Asian lead, whose past catches up with him when he’s drawn into a mysterious organisation known as the Ten Rings. But he’s up against more than dark forces: Shang-Chi also must contend with his father, Wenwu (played by Hong Kong–born superstar Tony Leung), whose own malicious agenda – and questionable parenting decisions – force Shang-Chi to make difficult choices of his own.
Don’t miss: The film’s cast includes Awkwafina (supplying comic relief as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy) and Michelle Yeoh. And, per Marvel custom, it brings back a few familiar faces from the MCU’s vast history.
