This game really delivers on its name; Wall Kickers is an endless jumper in which you leap-kick from wall to wall, aiming to get as high as you can.
The game starts out easy enough, allowing you to learn how to not immediately leap to your death. But fairly quickly things become more challenging and you’ll find yourself having to contend with spiked, moving and crumbling walls, as well as dangerous moving obstacles.
The levels have a classic arcade look and, impressively, when you die (which you will, a lot) they will periodically randomly regenerate so that you attempt a slightly different level when you restart. It really keeps things feeling fresh.
You jump once with a single tap, change directions with a double tap and make larger leaps with a longer press. It makes for extremely satisfying one-handed gameplay which puts an emphasis on timing.
To be a successful Wall Kicker you need to know when to move fast and when to watch and wait. Mercifully, the game allows you to stick to certain walls for a while (although maybe not always for as long as you might like) to plan your path.
Wall Kickers is a great example of how games don’t have to feature dozens of features to be fun. Sometimes it's just enough to pick one mechanic and perfect it.
