Excellent
Byword is an stunning little piece of software. I had felt increasingly disappointed with WriteRoom, especially since the last update, when all the preferences got reset, so after seeing a post on Minimal Mac about Byword, I gave it a chance. For the price of a coffee and a doughnut (at least here in Europe), I could afford to test the intriguing 'focus' feature that Patrick Rhone raved about over at Minimal Mac.
The focus feature alone is worth the price of Byword. It really brings that unique typewriter experience to the Mac, and if that sounds dull, trust me -- I had never used a typewriter as a real writing tool before, so I didn't know what I was missing! It's great, it works as you expect
Of course, Byword also looks gorgeous. The default font choice is beautiful too, however I switched to Warnock Pro because I needed a proper serif Unicode font, and Georgia was not cutting it.
All in all, absolutely recommended.
