Garmin Connect™
Ratings & Reviews
This was a gift for my birthday and I expected it to be a bit gimmicky. More than 1 year later and still going strong. The data teally helps me to improve my quality of life, using it as a trigger to improve my sleep patterns, reduce stress, burn more calories, be more active and if course, track my workouts. Cannot imagine being without it now.
I am upset about Garmin recent decision to monetize services that I have already paid a substantial premium for. I own several garmin watches, my latest is fenix 8 51. It literally cost 1300€, which I paid on the premise that I would not have to pay additional monthly fee for. I would, instead suggest that Garmin fixes existing issues in their software.Garmin connect is extremely buggy (keeps losing commection with the watch, and although there is oodles of data, it is badly organised, and offers not much insight). In case you are not yet locked into the Garmin ecosystem, be smart and stay away. They will charge you premium for a watch, not fix bugs, but still charge an extortionate annual subscription. My next running watch will not be Garmin. There are some extremely good running watches out there costing substantially less (even apple watch ultra is cheaper in comparison!) and not charging me a subscription.
Great app in combination with a Garmin smartwatch. It helped improving my health and fitness considerably. I was never doing sports until my health hit a low point. Overweight and with hypertension it was time to smth about it. Half a year later I am doing stuff I never imagined I was capable of.
App is useless without internet connection. You want to add your weight, want to check you workout schedule, want to check challenges, not a single functionality works without internet connection. If Garmin servers are down, you loose all the functionality of app and tis is not rare occurrence.Second mayor issue is Health integration. From time to time Garmin decides to delete all your history (steps, workouts, everything) and then gives you back only one month of data. When Garmin writes sleep data to Health it doesn’t take REM cycle as sleeping and your sleep time in Health in much lower than reality.Duplicate workout entry in Health. Garmin writes multiple entry's of same workout in Health. It looks like i am logging approx 890 workouts per week! All the Health issues are old and Garmin just keeps blaming Apple or denies that issue exists.
The charts are subpar market standard, period widget often doesnt work and is not understandable (please take a look at fitbits UI…), constant data sync issues so you need to restart the app. On the same screen I see the body battery info and the header widget where it says it doesnt have data for body battery. I expect more from Garmin.
The app was in need of some renewal to follow up with the trends. However the visual renovation as done was step in wrong direction. I can see much less information on screen at once than before, making the app worse not better. I want to see metrics I follow immediately, not scroll and swipe the whole day to get to them.
