Glovo: Food Delivery and more 12+

Onboarding is leaving a bunch to be desired

I was using eHrana as it was also the only delivery service that would deliver to my place (which is just 10 mins out of downtown). Although barely a week back, when the takeover by Glovo had already happend, Glovo did deliver to my location. Took 3 hours to have our food delivered, but we still managed to get it.

Now with the takeover by Glovo there is no food delivery service available anymore at all at my location (because Glovo shrank the delivery area, apparently) and the UX of the app is significantly worse (it never told me why I can’t add my address — I just couldn’t add it, because there was any kind of action missing). The onboarding experience is failing, if users need a second user to find out what should be happening and what system response I should be getting in the first place.

And the frustration gets worse when you want to contact customer support — but there’s no contact options online, unless it’s in spanish (which is not really my expertise). And the app doesn’t display any kind of menu if you don’t add your location, which was disabled for me.

Don’t design just for the ideal use case, you need to cover all of the basic onboarding experiences — especially if you only cover perhaps 2% of the country with your service. Do better.

The app is (its functionalities are) amazing! 💯💯💯 - easy to order ☑️ - all info needed are showing clearly (no need to dig&search for anything) ☑️ - lovely to monitor the delivery coming to your location ☑️ - name and phone no. of the deliveryman is provided ☑️ - remarks text box is there ☑️ Congratulations to the developers. Awful replacement for eHrana

I was heartbroken from the very beginning that another foreign company bought yet another one of our already few companies. Aside from that, Glovo is just (subjectively) worse than eHrana for several reasons: 1) instead of getting to type in my address only once in eHrana, Glovo doesn’t seem to save addresses, forcing you to type it everytime 2) You legit have to go through like 4 pages of useless confirmation for Glovo to finally finalize your order, which again, eHrana didn’t have 3) Glovo sends confirmation to your email instead of notifying you through the app like eHrana did. This is a pet peeve but I digress. 4) eHrana had a much easier and direct interface. Using Glovo makes me want to just call the restaurants in person because it’d be faster and easier. Furthermore, some of the restaurants in my area just straight up don’t work??? Even though they show up daily on Glovo’s nearby restaurants. This is a sorry replacement for eHrana and I lose more faith in the free market every day.
