Octave Crémazie was a 19th century Quebec poet. Born on April 16, 1827 in Quebec, he is considered one of the founding fathers of Quebec literature and one of the precursors of the French-Canadian literary movement. Crémazie is best known for his lyrical and romantic poetry, which celebrates the beauty of nature, love, country and traditional values. His writings contributed to the emergence of a national consciousness among Francophones in Canada.
