Description

Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.

• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.

• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 40 people.

• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.

• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.

• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.

• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

What’s New

Version 7.9

• We told ourselves that we would never do this, that we wouldn't be like the other apps with their lazy release notes, but this update really does include "bug fixes and performance improvements."

better than whatsapp

Signal protects your privacy while retaining most features of a modern messaging app. There's also a functional desktop client. It ditched the stupid feature of other apps, which shows other people when you're online. I only wish the accounts weren't phone number based, because I don't like to share my phone number with everyone.

Like the app, use it daily

but it still misses some key features (at least on iOS). I would love to have more options to configure the look and feel (eg make text more condensed). On the other hand, I understand Signal focuses on security and not ordinary Joe kind of requirements.

Good, but...

App is really good, has all the small things i enjoy as possibility to react to specific message etc, BUT I don’t like that notifications are not popping up on the screen when on the phone but using another app, you HAVE TO open the app to even realize that you received message. So if possible please fix the notifications since it’s not showing on locked or even unlocked screen. Other than this the app is pretty good :)
