The world of Tamriel is in trouble again – and it’s up to you to save it in The Elder Scrolls: Blades. With incredible graphics, intense combat and loads of loot, this vast made-for-mobile journey through Bethesda’s beloved fantasy realm will thrill role-playing fans – even those who have never experienced the Elder Scrolls series on console and PC.
Blades trades open worlds for bite-size quests through lush forests and creepy dungeons. Between duels with evil necromancers and pouncing trolls, you’ll gobble up food and grab treasure. Moving is as simple as tapping where you want to go; hold and release to swing your sword (and maybe thwack a giant spider).
Of course, you don’t have to use a sword. Like your appearance, your gear is fully customisable. Upgrading weapons, armour and abilities is a tinkerer’s delight. Temper weapons and attach enchantments to turn a regular axe into a Flawless Steel Hand Axe of Sparks that does shock damage with each strike. And thanks to a seamless transition between portrait and landscape modes, you can do it all with just one hand.
Whether you play a spell-casting Dark Elf or a silver-armoured Imperial, your backstory’s the same: Having joined an outlawed warrior clan, you return to your hometown to find it burned to the ground. It’s the perfect setup for a town-building hub, where you’ll use scavenged gold and materials to reconstruct homes, plant trees and bring life back to the city.
As stores and decorations replace piles of rubble, intriguing new people show up. Some want to help you fight bandits or figure out magical phenomena; others are hunting you down. Together they make Blades a vibrant, ever-evolving world.
