Master your transitions

Out with the basic, in with videos that really pop. When you’re creating a cool recap of life’s most special days – loved ones celebrating, the food, the view, the laughter and everything else in between – CapCut can help you capture and preserve moments of magic. Get started with some of our favourite transitions, effects and animations in the app and move from one scene to the next in the most creative ways.

Animation: Rotate Out 1
Try this: Tap Edit on the lower left and select Animation. Browse options in the In, Out and Combo categories and check out previews of your video. Rotate Out 1 can be found under Out and is a fun way to ease in and out of frames.
Tip: To slowly build an intro to your video use the animations in the In category; those in the Out category are best for fading out and ending a scene. For a perfect finish, try to match the duration that images and animations appear in your video.

Effect: Retro Film
Try this: Go to Effects > Video effects and under Retro select Retro Film. This a cool way to add a nostalgic effect to your clip. Whatever the occasion, you’ll find something in the Effects section to match it – besides Retro, make sure to check out the options under Love, Celebrate, Comic and Spark.
Tip: Keep experimenting until you create your signature template. Tap and hold effects (or anything else that you like the look of, including stickers, text and filters), and they’ll be added to your Favourites for easy access.

Transition: Pull Out
Try this: Create a new project by choosing the content you want to combine, then scroll to the right on the edit bar of your project and tap the small white icon that appears between frames; a menu of transitions will open. The Top Left and Top Right transitions add a seamless sweep from one scene to the next. Tap “Add audio” on the edit bar to include a song that perfectly captures the mood.
Tip: Try to sync the content of your video, including transitions, with the rhythm of your audio.
