Some classic game genres will never go out of fashion. Mr Jump World gives the platform game format a reboot for the touchscreen age: it’s a coin-collecting, death-defying thrill ride, in which the eponymous Mr Jump must leap and land safely without tumbling into the ocean’s depths or landing on a spike.
Avoid all of these traps to collect the glinting gold coins – though be warned, mistakes are swiftly punished.
And while Mr Jump World looks simple, it requires finely-sharpened skills: you must tap the screen at the perfect point to stay in the game, and some of the jumps will take several re-runs (and a few lives) to scale.
The more you play, the better you’ll get.
It’s a stripped-back game, and the interface is, accordingly, unfussy: Mr Jump’s world is made up of bright and bold shapes. But this will keep you focused on the task at hand: specifically, nailing those jumps.
This is a game designed to be played on the commute: fun, fast-paced and perfectly distracting.
