We all know how important focus is to a photo. But it’s not just ensuring your shot is sharp that matters – focusing on the right thing is just as important. Fortunately, you might not need to worry about that until after you’ve got home.

Confused? Don’t be. Using photography app Focos you can actually change the focal point of your image after you’ve captured the shot. Yes, really.

Focos lets you tweak your image’s focus even after you’ve captured it.

If your iPhone supports Portrait Mode, Focos automatically presents your Portrait images for easy editing and focal-point adjustment. Simply make your image selection within the app and tap Aperture > Size to gain customisation control.

Tapping on your photo will set your selected area as the main point of focus. Dragging the slider to the left and right will then adjust the aperture size, creating a distinctive blurring effect that becomes more or less pronounced as you move the marker.

You can also use the app’s Shape and Highlight functions to change the outline and brightness of your background light source to create the most suitable ambience for your photo.

Slide the bar to make your background more or less blurred.

These striking effects aren’t limited to Portrait shots, either. You can enhance standard images, too.

Helping give your flat images added ‘wow’ factor, Focos utilises shallow depth of field to create photos with a beautiful, soft, blurred background, giving images in the foreground added pop.

Just open the app, take a snap and find your desired focal point by adjusting the aperture to create a photo with a customised shallow depth of field. Your Instagram will never have seen as many Likes.
