Watch supernovas from your sofa
Big Bang AR will fill your home with stars.
Big Bang AR
The story of our universe
Are you ready to have your breath taken away? Created in association with the scientists of CERN, Big Bang AR uses augmented reality to bring the creation of our universe into your front room, or anywhere else you point your camera.
You can hold a star in your hand, watch supernovas explode in front of you and see planets grow in your garden.
The late, great Douglas Adams wrote: “Space is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly big it is.” Fitting even a tiny proportion of that into a handheld device and making it interactive is an incredible achievement, but it doesn’t make space feel any smaller or any less amazing.
Quite the opposite. We gasped when we saw stars form in front of us, and grinned as the planets of our solar system whizzed around the room.
In addition to the incredible visuals, the app also features a wonderful voiceover by legendary actor Tilda Swinton – and when you’ve explored the universe, you can take a ‘star selfie’ to share on social media.
It’s an extraordinary, inspiring app and a brilliant example of what augmented reality can do.
