Description

The River Cruise App is designed for tourists on a river cruise in Europe: More than 460 detailed offline maps from Aachen to Zürich. Check the river levels for your cruise on the Rhine, Danube, Elbe or in France. Last but not least a currency converter for all European and the most important international currencies.

The features provided by this app are based on my experience as a tour guide in the river cruise industry and escorting group tours. I summed up all the questions and problems I had to deal with over the last 7 years: “Where is XY?” / “How is the water situation?” / “What is the exchange rate?”. The app will cover these (and similar) questions and use cases. Please read the last paragraph on what the river cruise app does not do as well.

Maps: You can download detailed maps of more than 460 cities in Europe. No matter which cruise line you chose, the app includes every city which is (or has been) a port of call since 2010. Thanks to the high resolution you see immediately where the next ATM, pharmacy, public toilet or restaurant is. The GPS marker will show your position on the maps, you do not have to search for street names any more. Maps are based on openstreetmaps data and no data plan is needed for GPS positioning.

Water levels: There is not much we can do about the river levels, right. But it is still assuring to know the situation right now. Is everything under control or are you going to be stuck somewhere due to high or low water? You get water levels for the following rivers: Danube, Dordogne, Elbe, Garonne, Gironde Estuary, Main, Main Danube Canal, Moselle, Rhine, Rhone, Saar, Saone, Seine and Vltava. Data are updated daily from more than 380 stations. Even if we can not change the situation, you can see yourself how it is going to develop. Waterlevels are fetched from PEGELONLINE ( http://www.pegelonline.wsv.de/ ) - for more information.

Currency converter: The calculator helps you to convert one european currency to another or to: Australian Dollar (AUD), Canadian Dollar (CAD), New Zealand Dollar (NZD) or US Dollar (USD). This is especially useful if you are going to cruise to the Black Sea or extending your cruise with a land tour in Eastern Europe or Turkey.

Note: This app does not provide any help on selecting cruise lines, river cruise ships or itineraries. In case you need help making your decision, please visit my website and use the search and tools provided there for free. Once you made your decision, the app will be your 'swiss army knife' during your cruise.

Too long to read:
- 460 openstreetmaps with zoom level 1:18.
- Maps are usable without data plan.
- 340 river level station from all over Europe, from the Pyrenees to the Black Sea.
- European currencies + AUD, CAD, NZD, USD.
- Data are fetched via port 80 / http: No public wifi (cafe / hotel / ship) can block you.
- Syncing data via 3G disabled by default.

In case the app does not work as expected or you find a bug, please have a look at the FAQ at http://www.rivercruiseinfo.com/content/troubleshooting
