SheetPlanner 17+

The potential and immediate thought was 5 star, after a few weeks it i now 1.

The tools this application is pulling together is promising but then overall there are flaws and issues for a deeper use.

The good.
1. It is potentially a really great tool, there has been improvements during the time it has been available.
It is only recently and with heavy use I've come to see the app is incredibly flawed. It's kind of annoying, the website is so swish and professional but the actual product itself could do with much more attention to details. - I'm a setapp user so have downloaded the app once or twice over the past year and never saw anything appealing until a few weeks ago and I was most interested!

2. The versatility of the columns makes it so easy to plot out what you are wanting to work on - for example I am using it currently to investigate hundreds of news articles but..

3. Can see how incredibly effective it will become as an organisational tool. i use omnifocus and while I think omniplan and outline are great tools they were not cost effective for me.
SheetPlanner is offering exactly, exactly what is needed to fill the gap. I'm excited for that but...

The bad.
1 - SheetPlanner does not auto save as you work. I have been using a file for a few weeks and yesterday at the end of the working day I didn't save (computer crashed), I cannot remember a time in my working life that this has happened! (I'm 30).

2 - The adding of internet links into the document is useful but have found a lot of links are not inputted, you click enter and nothing happens - When it works it is good but not reliable
(I was copy and pasting from the year 2014 and most of the time seemed ok but from 2018 onwards hardly anything worked. Not sure if this useful but willing to provide more info if needed

3.The app switches from light to dark which is cool but when this happens the font colours start to change to match the black background, the words you inputted during dark mode stay the same colour font when the whole document switches back to light. (This is minor but again an annoyance to do the morning after).
There are also issues with the font colours for columns, I've not been able to work out how to consistently get one colour down an entire column - have tried many many times.

3 - There are issues with copy and pasting, if you copy and paste a few lines at a time in the middle of a document it will not create new rows instead it will paste over what's already in the row.
Leaving the other of newly pasted row columns still full. (When trying to reverse this using 'cmd z' it doesn't actually remove the pasted text you just start undoing all the work done before pasting (even though it says 'undo paste' when you use the mouse to click 'edit' and then 'undo' at the top of the screen).
Took me a week to work that extra bit out, thought I was going mad!)..

There are lots of other little things that were quite easy to find work arounds for but written above are the main ones after multiple weeks where there was no work around.

The ugly.
I cringe a bit having to leave such a review, to be honest over the past few weeks there have been many moments where I thought 'ahh, had better email support - this must be a bug'.
Being into the work I just found workarounds in the moment, being unable to find my days work from yesterday knowing it hasn't been autosaved has really bugged me out though.
On one hand I'm an idiot I didn't save it, on the other it is 2021 and there are so many other little things while using the app that led to this moment. Camels, straws and back etcetc.

The reconciliation.
You need balance between the front of shop and the functionality of the app but also putting the software out for sale when clearly there are so many little bugs still needing to be worked out is the issue here.

I look forward to removing this review and changing the star rating to something way more befitting of the potential.
