Phew. Heli 100 does not mess around – it throws you into the action straight away.
Okay, so you hover innocently over a grey-brown city for a moment, but then it happens: your chopper is surrounded by a ring of drones and the attacks begin. Wave after wave of futuristic black flying machines turn up, their bullets and missiles leaving a neon purple trail as they descend upon you.
Yikes. Better get dodging then, turning left and right by holding down on each side of the screen. Thankfully your chopper fires automatically, locking onto enemies in your firing line.
In a smart and vaguely battle royale-like touch, the circle of drones tightens over time, intensifying these shootouts further. It's not all bad news; vanquished foes drop a litany of over-the-top power ups, so when it all gets too much you can trigger one. Boom! You’ve survived another wave.
You can see the DNA from creator Tree Men Games’ excellent Pako games in here too. Just like those terrific car chase games, the action is fast, intuitive and looks cool in that clean, low-poly way that's so fashionable right now.
Heli 100 is an excellent arcade game – one that takes flight as soon as you fire it up and never lets the pace drop. Get to this chopper, right now.
