Langrisser SEA

World-renowned Fantasy JRPG

From the stamina-testing battle sequences to the fun of choosing carefully considered moves, the vast fantasy world of Langrisser is a non-stop thrill for fans of strategy gaming.

In this mobile version of the much-loved Japanese RPG series, you’ll find yourself on the continent of El Sallia after the end of the great war that took place in Langrisser V (the final game in the original series, released in 1998). In that war, the Legendary Sword – called Langrisser, the namesake of the series which is said to give infinite power to the one who holds it – was destroyed. Now, Langrisser’s protagonist Matthew is on a mission to reforge the sword and save the continent from dark forces.

On his journey, Matthew is supported by past heroes of the Langrisser series who are summoned through time rifts – characters such as Leon, leader of the Rayguard Empire’s Blue Dragon Knights, Jessica, the magician who appears throughout the series, Shelfaniel, First Princess of the Kingdom of Caconsis, and Angelina, the Second Princess. At times they will help you, but they can just as easily become your enemies, so stay on guard. Fans of the series will be eager to encounter their favourite, and their most feared, characters.

In turn-based battles, you’ll need a solid strategy and perfectly executed moves – like a great chess game. Each character has strengths and weaknesses – lancers, for example, dominate against cavalry – so thinking tactically about how to use their skills will help you gain ground. Another big part of the game is the terrain: for instance, unit defence increases in forests. When you use your skills and how you use characters that are good with close distances or long distances are also important factors for your mission. Being the commander of this operation means you choose how you want to fight, and there’s a refreshing sense of freedom that comes with that.

In addition to the main story, the game’s Time Rift mode lets you experience past adventures involving Langrisser’s cast of characters, so both newcomers to the series and those who may have simply forgotten can get a taste of some of the great storylines featured in previous games.

When you’re not knee-deep in defence manoeuvres and dodging deadly demons, take a moment to appreciate the game’s anime graphics, all-star voiceover cast and memorable original score – they really do perfectly complement what is nothing short of an epic quest.
