Horizon Chase

Classic Nitro Speed Race Game

View

Horizon Chase is a genuine tribute to classic arcade race games like Enduro (1983), Out Run (1986) and Top Gear. The game’s retro-modern style will have you flooring it into nostalgia land.

Combining graphics that recall the era of 16-bit games with an outstanding soundtrack, everything about the experience feels old-school – especially when the soundtrack is from none other than Barry Leitch, creator of the unforgettable Top Gear audio.

In Horizon Chase, you compete in a world-touring championship set across 36 cities, with twice as many tracks ready for you to race around. The aim is to pile up money as you go so you can unlock new cars. To win on the track, you’ll have to figure out how to follow a racing line around the curves and pull away from the other 19 cars on the grid that insist on trying to block you, even if you’re faster. Plus you’ve got to dodge obstacles, get tokens and petrol – running out of fuel can be very frustrating. Wait for the right moment to deploy the nitro.

Thanks to the vast variety of landscapes and models of cars, this game doesn’t get boring. There are 19 rides, all inspired by real models and each with its own engine sound. When you cross the final flag in the last championship, you’ll unlock the best wheels of all: the Explorer, inspired by the famous DeLorean from Back to the Future.

A time-travelling car? That seems just about perfect for this game.
