Description

Free trial available, try all of SCALE for free for 2 weeks.

SCALE produces structural engineers' calculations and component details for the design of a variety of components such as beams, columns and slabs, using steel, concrete, masonry and timber. SCALE outputs pdf and docx files, consisting of a set of pages, neatly titled, dated and numbered, containing calculations and component details made to a standard suitable for submission to a checking authority.

“I use SCALE because it produces neatly composed calculation sheets which can easily be checked.”

SCALE incorporates a library of over 600 proforma calculations, which are accessed via in-app subscription. The content of this library is continually under review, proformas being added or modified as codes of practice develop and change. All proformas include a parallel set of calculations for Eurocodes and British Standards.

“I would like to express my thanks for the many years of use of your excellent design software which has made my life so much easier.”

SCALE includes LUCID and SPADE, 'expert systems’ which know about reinforced concrete, steelwork, timber and masonry detailing, and build the detail using the knowledge contained within their databases.

“I am self employed and use SCALE everyday for design. I have also used your LUCID automatic reinforcement detailing / bar schedule for ground beams and use the automatic steel connection detailing program. I have never had any queries on either of these from site.”

SCALE includes NL-STRESS for 2D/3D elastic analysis with linking between analysis and design, non-linear (plastic and stability) analysis, and numerous pre and post-processors for vehicle loads, guyed masts etc.

SCALE users produce over one million pages of structural calculations per year; SCALE has condensed print and summary options for saving paper.

What’s New

Version 7.29

Updates in SCALE 7.29:
• Built with the latest Xcode 15.4 and iPadOS 17.5 SDK.
• SCALE 7.29 supports all iPads from iOS 12 onwards: all iPad Pros, all iPad Airs, iPad 5 onwards, and iPad Mini 2 onwards.
• SCALE 7.29 supports all Macs with Apple Silicon, M1, M2, M3 onwards.
• Updated for latest 13" and 11" iPad Pro 2024.
• Fixed NL-GUI Joint Coordinates table selection problem.
• SCALE now saves and reads back assignments entered as responses from the stack file, e.g. if you enter 20*b as a response to +F=???? then "20*b" will be brought up as the default response for +F=???? the next time you run the proforma using this stack file.
• pdf max pages increased from 8,191 to 819,100.
• LUCID and SPADE numerical output no longer remove the leading zero before a decimal point.
• Maximum size of EDIT box increased from 100 rows to 200 rows.
• NL-VIEW: added CONIC (Circular and Elliptical) and OCTAGON sections.
• Fixed saving all variables to the stack file!
• Modified SCALE so that any string variables declared before START are only saved to the stack file if they are used, to match treatment of numerical variables.
• Fixed behaviour of "Redo Stage", entry now correctly goes back to the previous occurrence of ">" in the proforma file.
• When "Restart" is selected in the middle of a proforma, entry now goes back to the first entry in the actual proforma, preserving any values entered.
• When "Back" is selected from viewing the final calcs, SCALE will now replace the newly created stack file with the previous one used at the start of the proforma, to exactly replicate re-running the proforma.

• Revised testing proformas:
• sc040 runs through a list of sc041, which runs sc042 with multiple threads, to parametrically verify SCALE proformas.
• sc043 runs all 3700 examples, output to individual pdf, docx and dxf files.
• sc044 (and sc045 summaries) multithreaded run all examples, building combined, indexed and outlined/bookmarked pdfs.
• sc046 multithreaded run all examples two/three times, creates pdf highlighting any differences - regression testing for stack files.
• sc047 multithreaded parametric testing of all examples to check that the ans= examples run through correctly regardless of any previous stack file values.
• sc049 display proforma logic for every proforma.
