希望谷是一款针对学校用户的手机通信软件，不同于以往以短信为主的家校沟通工具，希望谷不仅实现了类似微信的丰富、便捷的通讯功能，同时也充分考虑了基础教育的特殊性和老师及家长的使用习惯，使学校内部、家校之间、家长之间的沟通和交流变得方便、快捷、有效，从而为学校和班级营造一个积极、和谐、互动的教学氛围和文化。
希望谷的主要功能包括：
通知：向全校或全班的教师、家长、学生及群组发布各种信息，如公告、作业、成绩、光荣榜等。
聊天：为全校师生、家长提供一对一，一对多，多对多等多种形式的沟通服务，沟通内容可以是文字、语音、表情、图片等。
分享：为同一年级、有相同关注点的老师和家长提供一个公共分享平台，大家在这里可以分享、交流各种感兴趣、有价值的信息，范围涉及家庭教育、兴趣培养、成长激励、心理健康、疑难解答等。
通讯录：与其它通讯工具（如微信）不同，希望谷有一个无需家长创建、维护、更新的通讯录，里边包含了所有与自己相关的老师、家长的联系信息，同时，通过通讯录的群组功能，可以方便地建立各种群组（如社团、家委会、少先队、教研组等），以便于特定群体的沟通和交流。
