Are you ready to be a hero?
Woah, steady on! Put down the cape and step away from the leggings. In 8 Ball Hero you’re a hero of a different kind. Or at least you’re trying to be.
Instead of cleaning up the streets you’re trying to clear up on the pool table. A cue is your weapon of choice, and in this engaging battle of the baize you’re tasked with going from plucky amateur to established pro with international titles in their sights.
Controls are slick and, just like real pool, the margins between sinking a beautiful shot and catching an ugly edge are fine. Here though, instead of playing endless frames you’re dropped into difficult situations within a match, tasked with picking up the pieces.
Whether you’ve got to make a single shot to win the frame or half a dozen, miss at any point and you’ll lose a life. Pot, however, and you’ll continue on your meandering, and surprisingly engaging, journey to the top. But potting balls is only half the job.
With each level coming with a trio of challenges – anything from sinking the black in the lower left corner pocket to clearing the table without touching any of your opponent’s balls – these additional tasks keep the tension high and the gameplay feeling fresh.
As a result 8 Ball Hero is the sort of game you’ll be desperate to not only complete, but ace along the way. Sure, one miss means it’s attempt over, but that’s OK, you can handle the pressure, right? After all, you don’t get to be a hero unless you can hold your nerve.
