In a world of colour can you tell your amaranth from your vermilion? Us neither – but we know an app that does: Pastel.
This colour palette app serves as a dedicated space to store the hues you love, whether it’s a shade you spot online or one you see when you’re out and about.
Begin by tapping New Palette at the top of the screen, then name it – say, “Kitchen Paint Colours”. Once you’ve tapped on Add Palette, tap the camera icon at the bottom left, then select things you’ve saved to your device or snap something new.
Once you’ve selected a photo, you’ll see a palette of automatically detected colours at the bottom of the screen. You can also manually select the colour you particularly want to know and Pastel will detect it.
To do this, touch and scroll onscreen with your finger – a pop-up displays the colours as your finger moves, all you need to do is tap Add to include what you want in your palette.
Manually add more colours to the palette if you like, then tap Accept in the top right corner to save. The colours on the palette will be displayed together with their hexadecimal colour codes.
Now you can learn about the world of colour you see every day and save the hues that catch your eye with Pastel.
