If you love poetry
Here’s an app for you.
Yes, our rhyming skills may not be on point today, but we do always appreciate that beautiful feeling when we come across a good poem. If you know exactly what we’re talking about, take a look at Laf. — a micro social networking and creativity platform for poetry lovers and poets of all types.
The look and feel of the app have been designed in a rather poetic way. Users can associate their current mood with a colour, which defines the colour palette of the app’s interface. Know your shade already? Swipe left to see your profile and tap on the drop symbol at the bottom-right corner. Here, you can choose the colour that fits you most and read a moving poem that describes each colour in an unexpected way.
But that’s certainly not all: Laf. uses machine-learning to provide a personalised experience. As each poem is matched with a colour, switching to a different shade triggers a unique poem curation resonating with that particular mood. This comes as no surprise, as the developer of Laf. is Emre Şahiner, an engineering student from Istanbul.
From your profile, swipe right to go back to your Home feed where you’ll find the poem of the day. If you’d like to see the works of famous poets in addition to the poetry from the Laf. community, you can tailor your settings accordingly.
A final swipe to the right will take you to the Explore feed; read poems from others here, and favourite the ones that you love. When you’re channelling your inner Edgar Allan Poe, the poems you submit will also appear on this feed, waiting to be discovered by fellow poetry lovers. Simply poetic, isn’t it?
